WHAT HAPPENS IF MY SSL CERTIFICATE ISN'T TRUSTED?

If your SSL certificate isn't trusted you'll get this message (dependent on your browser):

CHROME:

FIREFOX:

SAFARI:

INTERNET EXPLORER:

OPERA:

This will only occur if your browser can’t link the certificate to a trusted root certificate. Or that it isn’t signed by a trusted root certificate.

Is your certificate signed by a major CA? If so, one of the chain certificates in between your certificate and the root certificate isn’t installed on the web server.

You can view your certificate’s chain in Internet Explorer by clicking on ‘certification path’.

It could also occur if you are using a self-signed certificate. These aren’t trusted in the same way as a commercial certificate. You can either tell your browser to trust it or buy a trusted certificate. Get in touch to decide the best one for your business.

Similarly, are you using a free SSL certificate? Because their Root certificate must be manually imported to each browser.
